Welcome to the September 2023 edition of MVTA Member News!

The anticipation is mounting as we immerse ourselves in preparations for our Annual Meeting. We strongly encourage all members to mark their calendars for this pivotal event. It’s a chance to engage with vendors, connect with peers, and crucially, bolster your business growth.

We’re thrilled to introduce a range of new vendors with whom we’ve partnered. These alliances aim to offer unmatched business benefits, special discounts, and steadfast support to our valued members. This year’s Annual Meeting is set to be remarkable, showcasing insights from new speakers and special guests who are eager to engage with you and your team. To ensure your attendance, please RSVP and book your spot at the:

In a significant development, our Board of Directors used our Facebook page to unveil an exciting highlight. Chrissy Nizer, the MDOT MVA Administrator, will be attending our Annual Meeting with her committed team. This will be her debut at our gathering, providing a rare occasion for her to directly express her support to our community. But the surprises don’t end there!

We’ve also scheduled an exclusive session with Maryland’s pioneering Comptroller, Brooke E. Lierman. Being the first female Comptroller of Maryland, she is spearheading reforms in her department. We eagerly await her perspectives, which you can glimpse in advance here: Maryland Comptroller’s Strategic Goals.

Prepare for an event filled with exhilaration and insightful takeaways. We look forward to welcoming you and your team in person!

MVA and Dealertrack Meeting Highlights:

We’ve recently collaborated with MVA to address the fee discrepancies appearing in our Dealertrack ERT Systems when using the “get fees” button. As these fees are determined by the MVA, if you encounter these issues, please notify the Dealertrack Customer Support Team and share your case number with beth@mvta.org for our upcoming discussions. Any subsequent updates will promptly be posted on our Facebook Group Page.

Ensure you participate in the FRAUD Training held in person at the MVA Headquarters in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Note that the class schedule under bulletins has been revised. The forthcoming session is scheduled for December 7, 2023, at 9 am, facilitated by the MVA Investigations Team. To enroll, reach out to Ms. Michele Wagner at mwagner@mdot.maryland.gov or Ms. Renee Nadreau at rnadreau@mdot.maryland.gov. For any inquiries, connect with Business Licensing and Compliance at 410-787-2952 or MVABLDISD@mdot.maryland.gov.

Change of Address Transaction Updates: We’ve received confirmation that clients are again receiving address change cards via mail. Notably, members Stephanie and Mirna from All Tags & Title mentioned that the MDDTTS email responses now come with copies for immediate provision to clients post-transaction. Further details on this will be disclosed at the MVTA Annual Membership Meeting.

MVA Bulletin Revisions: An updated Electronic Scanning Mandate Bulletin, inclusive of corrections and additions based on feedback from our title agents and dealers, will be published next week. Check it out here: SCANuary BULLETIN.

On the topic of SCANuary, don’t miss the ANNUAL Meeting’s breakout sessions, which will feature discussions with our partners, Edge Digital and Kodak.

Gear up for the SCANNING MANDATE commencing January 1, 2024. We’re committed to ensuring all members are adeptly equipped to scan and upload titling documents into their respective ERT systems. If you’ve yet to see the KODAK partnership scanners in action, the Annual Meeting is your opportunity. Both Kodak and Edge Digital teams will be available, ready than ever to help us navigate SCANuary successfully!

In November the Board of Directors to include NEW Board Members will be meeting in person together for our monthly discussion. We look forward to providing to our membership feedback and information about changes to the processes at the Glen Burnie Branch and what to expect for the Spring 2024 Modernization updates being completed by FAST Enterprises.

AAMVA Updates:

The MVTA Board of Directors attended AAMVA’s International Conference this past week! It was great to sit at the table with our Preferred Partners at Dealertrack, Auto Data Direct, Bumper Vehicle History Reports, and most of all one-on-one time with the MVA and other Jurisdictions’ Staff. The main topic of discussion effecting our title agent community is the changes towards “Electronic Titles”. The MVTA Board of Directors and Committee Members are taking part of this discussions with the top officials working at AAMVA and with their jurisdictional members. We will be sharing at the Annual Meeting the Survey and discussion feedback from the MVTA that will be presented to the AAMVA group.

Through the work done at AAMVA, the MVTA Board of Director’s reach has expanded to encompass states like Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and DC in productive discussions. Don’t forget to reach out to beth@mvta.org if you and your team are interested in attending the first MVTA’s Delaware Titling Agent Training Class in Dover, Delaware on November 7th starting promptly at 9 am. If you need a ride from the Annapolis Area please let Beth know, we have four seats left in the Sprinter Van!
